Patients who are too ill or frail may request a home visit during surgery hours. If you can get to the surgery please do so as the facilities available at the surgery means the doctor can make a better assessment of your problem.
Home visits are based on clinical need, therefore if the doctor feels you do not require a home visit, then the visit will be declined. Not all problems require a home visit and it may be more appropriate to give advice over the telephone on how to manage your condition.
Patients are requested to telephone before 10.30am if a visit is required that day, as this will allow the doctor to make adequate provisions for the visit. Please give the receptionist as much information as possible. The doctor will often call you back to ascertain the problem.
Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit.
